This is quite an interesting link talking about the medical term for the fear of being buried alive. Known as Taphophobia the article explains how many people actually did get buried alive in the 18th and 19th century and so it was a rational fear and the fear I had as a younger girl. Its interesting that many of the people who were probably buried alive suffered from things such as small pox so perhaps one of my ideas could be a person noticeably suffering from a disease of some sort.

Another interesting link to stories of people who have been supposably buried alive maybe I can use one of these stories to build a foundation for my own look and character that I want to create. I especially liked the story of the woman who was half out the coffin half in who had suffered an ugly head injury and hands.
